One little puppy starting their dental-care journey!
This week I welcomed a gorgeous puppy featured here for their Initial Emmi-Pet Consultation and first teeth clean.
One of the best times to start thinking about your dog’s dental care is before there’s something to fix!
Getting puppies used to gentle mouth handling, lifting their lips and checking their teeth helps make oral care a normal part of everyday life.
Prevention is exactly what we want for our dogs!
A Grooming Journey – Look at Him Now! This gorgeous Goldendoodle first came to me at 10 months old for his very first full groom, having previously only experienced a bath and blow-dry elsewhere.
Such a sweet boy from the beginning, but creating his groom has definitely been a work in progress. With a young dog, sometimes it takes a few visits to learn their coat, build their confidence and discover the style that really suits them as they mature.
Fast forward to his third groom and everything has come together beautifully! He’s grown into his coat, settled into the grooming process and we’ve developed a lovely groom that really suits him.
He’s now on a regular 6-week grooming schedule, which will help us maintain his coat, keep him comfortable and continue building on all the progress he’s made.
It’s so rewarding seeing a young dog’s grooming journey develop from that very first appointment to the confident, handsome boy you see today.

Hand stripping is a specific grooming service for suitable coat types, where the dead outer coat is carefully removed by hand rather than clipped. It helps maintain the coat’s natural texture, colour and function. Two very smart dogs after today’s hand-stripping sessions! Midweek Grooming Round-Up – A few of the lovely faces that have been keeping me busy so far this week!
From regular visitors keeping on top of their teeth maintenance and grooming schedules to youngsters learning the ropes, every groom is tailored to the individual dog, their coat and what they’re comfortable with.
One of this week’s little stars was this sweet Cockapoo puppy — and I just love that puppy energy! The curiosity, the wiggles and those little personalities coming through make puppy grooms so much fun.
His before, during and after photos (from top to bottom) show his journey so far from fluffy pup, through bath time, to his gorgeous freshly groomed finish.
Starting young is so important, helping puppies gradually become familiar with bathing, drying, brushing, clippers, scissors and having their paws and faces handled so grooming becomes a normal part of life.
At his next groom, we’ll also introduce him to Emmi-Pet teeth cleaning with his initial consultation, helping him become comfortable with having his mouth and teeth handled from a young age.
A lovely start to the week with lots more waggy-tailed transformations to come!
WEEKLY ROUND-UP – Another busy week, below is a selection of the lovely dogs visiting for their full grooms, and Emmi-Pet teeth cleans.

Arthur had his second full groom, and we’re starting to grow in his skirt and introduce those lovely Westie breed lines as his coat develops. He also had his first Emmi-Pet consultation and deep clean. Even at just 9 months, there was already some plaque building on his young adult molars — a great reminder that prevention can start young. Early introductions also help pups become comfortable with having their mouths and teeth handled. Pippa also had her emmi-Pet maintenance clean!
A lovely mix this week, from 9-month-old youngsters to our beautiful 15-year-old Daisy. Well done, everyone!
This week’s round up includes a lovely mix of client grooms & Emmi-Pet Ultrasonic teeth cleans, including three puppies who had their first initial consultations and deep cleans, it’s very soothing for puppies gums, and great to get them used to the process and preventative care in place from early on. Why regular emmi-pet teeth cleaning matters

A little weekend round-up
6-year-old Skipper the Border Terrier came in for his Emmi-Pet follow-up and deep clean, where we worked on removing the remaining plaque and giving his teeth a thorough clean.
Follow-up appointments are such an important part of Emmi-Pet care. They allow me to monitor how things are progressing, remove any build-up that has returned, and, most importantly, check in on the home-care routine. Skipper will be back within the next 4 weeks for a maintenance appointment, where I’ll review his home-care plan with his owner, see how he’s getting on, and make sure we’re doing everything we can to keep plaque and tartar at bay.
5-year-old Fonzie the Cairn Terrier came in with a lovely blown coat ready for hand stripping — one of my absolute favourite services to do!
I love hand stripping because it’s not just about how beautiful the finished coat looks, it helps maintain the natural texture, colour and function of the terrier coat. Removing the dead outer coat encourages the new coat to come through and helps preserve that proper harsh, weather-resistant texture that terriers are known for, and I love being able to work with the coat rather than simply removing it.
And finally, 6-year-old Archie and 5-year-old Cooper, both Cockerpoos, came in for their full grooms and left looking fresh, happy and relaxed — exactly how I like to see them! Every dog’s coat, skin, teeth and grooming needs are different, which is why regular appointments and a tailored maintenance routine are so important. It’s not just about making them look good — it’s about keeping them comfortable, healthy and happy between visits too.
16 year old Stella the Staffie, came in with 7 year old Pippa the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They both enjoyed full grooms, and soothing mud spa treatment for Stella, and each had an Emmi-Pet maintenance teeth clean.
6 year old Skipper the Border Terrier came in with a Blown coat for his handstrip, and had his first Emmi-Pet initial consultation and deep clean, lots of plaque came off, and he will be back in for a follow appointment within the next week after following his home-care plan.
10 year old Beagle x Kiki, and 9 year old Yuri Chihuahua came in for their regular full grooms, and first Emmi-Pet initial consultations to maintain their teeth following a recent veterinary dental 6 weeks ago, where they also had extraction’s.
1 year old Cockerpoo Niko ran through a fur ball bush and came in for an emergency bath & blow dry and thorough comb through to salvage his beautiful fluffy coat.
5 year old Clover, Labrador came in for her first ever Dog grooming appointment, she had a full groom deshed and took it all in his stride, so much so she was also able to have her first Emmi-Pet initial consultation and deep clean.
Our very own 2 year old Yorkshire Terrier Zorro also had his full groom, and regular Emmi-Pet maintenance clean.
14 month Toy Poodle Freddy, and 11 month Goldendoodle Murphy both also came for their regular full groom.
Below is 16 month old Cavapoo Margo, feeling very relaxed and more comfortable after her full groom.
11 year old Meg came in for a rescheduled and natural trim, and a Emmi-Pet teeth clean, and left feeling refreshed, and glowing!
Clemmie is a very lovely 4 year old Irish Terrier, she came in for her Initial Consultation and first ultrasonic deep clean today and did so well, we took it slowly, she will follow the home care plan over the next week, and then return for another ultrasonic deep clean.
Nancy and Gabby are such a sweet pair of Cockerpoos, they are 11, but skip about as if puppies, such a pleasure to groom.
Cupid is a lovely 3 year old Havanese pup, he had a very short summer style on his body, with scissored legs, and his first teeth clean, and went home wearing an exclusive CDG My First Emmi-Pet Teeth Clean rosette!
Willow is a lovely 7 month Retriever puppy in for a full groom, desched, and starts her first Emmi-Pet teeth cleaning next groom, prevention is better then cure, do it’s great to start oral care early
Nala the sweetest 11 year old West Highland White Terrier enjoyed her regular full groom.
Violet 8 month old Cockerpoo puppy was so well behaved for her Second ever full groom.
Oakley 4 year old Shit Tzu enjoyed his regular full groom.
Ozzy, 2 year old Schnauzer x enjoyed his full groom at Chloe’s Dog Grooming.
Denzel a very sweet Dachshund x Poodle enjoyed his regular groom at Chloe’s Dog Grooming.
This groom is of Arthur a lovely 8 month West Highland White Terrier puppy enjoying his first groom, and wearing his specially made exclusive CDG “My First Groom” rosette.
This weekend Chloe’s Dog Grooming has enjoyed grooming lots of fluffy puppies! Two year old Marley, 6 month old Apollo whose first full groom it was, and 1 year old Niko, all very sweet Cockerpoos, and last but not least Holly a lovely bouncy 9 month old Cocker Spaniel puppy.
We then have Daisy, a very lovely 15 year old Cockerpoo, and Dolly a chatty 7 year old Poodle x Bichon.
Today we had regulars 5 year old Max the Cockerpoo, and 2 year old Benji the Show Cocker, both for full grooms and Emmi-Pet maintenance teeth cleans.

Fred, the Cocker Spaniel is another very sweet regular, he has been coming for grooming since a very bouncy young pup, he’s so sweet, calm and confident now! He has a natural trim and likes to keep his leg feathers.
Flo, the Spaniel is a lovely regular who came in for grooming and her Emmi-Pet maintenance teeth clean. Todays groom was in the open air on the mobile grooming table due to how warm it was, and Flo air dryed!

Their two-legged family members also enjoyed a slice of cake… with Colin the Caterpillar transformed into a sausage dog!
It really made me stop and reflect on how much these gorgeous dogs have grown.
Our handsome black Cockerpoo is now 15 months old and has been coming to me since he was just 15 weeks old for his very first puppy introduction.
Our sweet little Pomapoo is now 9 months old and has been visiting since her first groom at just 5 months old.
Watching puppies grow into confident young dogs, while also caring for my wonderful older clients year after year, is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. Building those lasting relationships with both dogs and their owners is exactly why I love what I do.
I’ve included above few photos from their very first visits alongside today’s grooms—it’s amazing to look back and see how much they’ve all changed.

The celebrations continued this evening as Zorro patiently waits out in the garden for some of my lovely local clients—both two-legged and four-legged—to join us for birthday cake and a little celebration!
Guests included Dipstick, a lovely senior Border Terrier, who was the very first dog I hand stripped when I opened Chloe’s Dog Grooming last July. It feels very fitting that she’ll be back as I celebrate my first year in business.

Mabel, a gorgeous 9-month-old Cockerpoo, visited for a full groom, her teddy came along for reassurance.
I was delighted to help out both a fellow local groomer and Mabel’s owner after unexpected circumstances meant she was unable to attend her scheduled appointment. With Cockerpoos, keeping to a regular 6-week grooming schedule is so important to prevent matting and keep their coat healthy and comfortable. I’m always happy to support another local groomer where I can, while ensuring dogs like Mabel continue to receive the care they need.
Violet, an extremely well behaved 6 month Cockerpoo puppy enjoyed her first full groom and pawdicure today, and went home looking very smart with a special handmade “My First Groom” rosette made by me, to mark this special milestone!
Yuri & Kiki Beat the Heat in Style!
Yuri the Chihuahua and Kiki the Beagle × Dachshund came in bright and early this morning, ahead of the heatwave, for their Seasonal Spa Full Groom, welcomed by their favourite buddy, Zorro.
Yuri enjoyed our Soothing Therapeutic Mud Spa Treatment, while Kiki was treated to our De-Shedding Mud Spa Treatment – both tailored to their individual coat and skin needs.
To finish their spa experience, they both relaxed with a luxurious Blueberry Facial in our Hydrobath Spa, followed by a Luxury Pawdicure, leaving them looking, feeling and smelling absolutely gorgeous!

Ongoing Emmi-Pet Dental Care Journey these photographs show the progress achieved over 7 Emmi-Pet treatments between 1st May and 16th June, with further treatments still planned before transitioning onto a regular maintenance schedule.
This lovely 11-year-old dog was recommended for dental treatment under anaesthetic by their veterinary practice. Concerned about the anaesthetic due to their dog’s age, the owners chose to explore the Emmi-Pet route and committed to a programme of regular treatments alongside home care.
We are delighted with the progress achieved so far and look forward to continuing this journey before moving onto monthly and then 6-weekly maintenance appointments.
Every dog is different and results vary depending on age, oral health, existing tartar build-up, home care and commitment to ongoing maintenance. While many dogs benefit from regular Emmi-Pet treatments, no specific results can ever be guaranteed.

She was a little anxious at first, which is completely understandable, but she soon settled in. We took a gentle stroll around the garden to stretch her legs and enjoyed a comfort break halfway through her groom. By the time she left, Daisy looked completely at ease and very comfortable. A wonderful first senior groom together.

Dolly – 7-year-old Bichon x Poodle came in looking as lovely as ever for her regular grooming appointment.
Henry – also a 12-month-old Cockapoo – has been coming every six weeks since his Puppy’s First Groom at 4 months old. Just like Terry, he is wonderfully relaxed and confident, greeting us with a happy wagging tail as he arrives.

Terry, a 12-month-old Cockapoo – has been visiting every six weeks since his Puppy’s First Groom at just 4 months old. What a chilled, relaxed young dog he has grown into! He walks into the grooming area with a beautifully wagging tail every time.
Today, lovely Daisy came in for her initial Emmi-Pet consultation and first ultrasonic deep clean session. Daisy is a 15-month-old Cockapoo rescue who has had a difficult start in life. When she joined her family, it was believed she may never have experienced regular grooming before, and her coat had previously needed to be removed by the RSPCA due to its condition.
Following a recent veterinary check-up, some tartar build-up was identified, so today we began her Emmi-Pet journey. Using ultrasonic technology, the Emmi-Pet treatment is a gentle, non-invasive way to support dental health, with no vibration, noise or traditional descaling required.
I was delighted with how well Daisy accepted having her gums and teeth handled, and she coped brilliantly with her first treatment session.
Every dog progresses at their own pace, and for Daisy, today was all about creating a calm and positive experience while laying the foundations for future dental care and grooming appointments.
I’m so proud of this sweet girl and can’t wait to see her confidence continue to grow over the coming weeks. She left with a homecare plan and products to help soften the plaque and tartar, and will return in two weeks for a follow-up maintenance appointment.

With young dogs and first-time grooms, my priority is always building confidence and creating a positive experience. A calm, patient approach helps lay the foundation for future appointments and allows us to gradually refine the finish over time.
Truffles was an absolute sweetheart and did so well. Her coat is now cleaner, lighter, healthier and much easier to maintain, and I’m looking forward to seeing her confidence continue to grow.

Meet Cooper, a lovely 10-year-old Irish Terrier with a smile worth protecting!
When Cooper’s vet recommended an invasive dental procedure under anaesthetic, his owners were keen to explore other options first. They decided to try the Emmi-Pet ultrasonic teeth cleaning process and attended one of my dental clinics at the end of April.
Since then, Cooper has been attending regular maintenance appointments twice a week, and the results have been fantastic. His dedicated owners have fully committed to his home care plan, ensuring his teeth and gums receive the daily attention they need between visits.
The combination of professional maintenance and consistent home care has made a significant difference. Cooper’s gums are healthier, his teeth are looking much cleaner, and we’re gradually working towards increasing the time between his appointments as his oral health continues to improve.
Cooper’s story is one of many. I often see dogs whose owners are looking for an alternative or supportive option after being advised that a dental procedure under anaesthetic may be needed. While every dog is different and there is no one-size-fits-all solution, regular maintenance and excellent home care can make a remarkable difference to many dogs’ oral health and comfort.
It is also important to understand that even when a dog does require a veterinary dental procedure under anaesthetic, that is often just the beginning of their dental care journey, not the end. Many dogs return to me afterwards for regular maintenance appointments to help keep their mouths healthy and to protect the investment their owners have made in their dental treatment.
In fact, I have seen dogs undergo a full veterinary dental procedure, only for no maintenance or home care to be carried out afterwards. Sadly, within as little as nine months, some of these dogs can find themselves back where they started, with plaque, tartar, gum disease and the need for further treatment. I simply cannot stress enough how important ongoing maintenance is. Whether your dog has Emmi-Pet cleaning, a veterinary dental procedure, or both, consistency is the key to long-term success.
That said, it’s important to be realistic. Some dogs come to me when dental disease has already progressed too far. In these cases, I have referred dogs back to their veterinary surgeon for extractions where teeth are loose or causing discomfort. Once teeth have reached that stage, professional veterinary treatment is often the kindest and most appropriate option.
The key message is that prevention and early intervention matter. With the right maintenance programme and home care routine from a young age, many dental problems can be reduced or even avoided. This is especially important for smaller breeds, which are often more prone to dental disease and can require even more diligent care throughout their lives.
Cooper’s progress is a wonderful example of what can be achieved through commitment, consistency, and teamwork between owner and practitioner. His owners have embraced the process, followed his home care plan, and attended every appointment. The results speak for themselves.

What a fantastic Emmi Pet Teeth Cleaning Clinic we had on Saturday at Cronin’s Companion Care Doggy Daycare in Hilgay! It was wonderful to spend the day seeing both new and existing clients, welcoming fresh faces and catching up with our regulars for their all-important follow-up maintenance appointments.
The day was a great reminder that the success really is in the maintenance. Healthy teeth and gums are not achieved through one appointment alone — consistency is key, and regular follow-up appointments play such an important role in maintaining great oral health for our dogs.
A big part of this maintenance also includes following our personalised home care plans alongside attending regular clinic appointments. Working together helps achieve the very best results.

Starting teeth cleaning desensitisation early with puppies is one of the best things you can do for their future health. Getting them comfortable with gentle mouth handling and regular dental care creates positive lifelong habits, supports smooth, healthy gums and helps keep those pearly white teeth sparkling.
Early introductions make dental care far less stressful as dogs grow older and can help reduce fear around mouth handling and treatments. Preventative dental care is so important and may help avoid more serious dental problems developing later, reducing the chance of needing more invasive procedures or veterinary anaesthesia in the future.

Penny the Patterdale Terrier came in for her first handstrip with me today.
Penny had around six months of coat growth, meaning her coat had properly blown and was ready for a full handstrip. Every dog and coat is different — some benefit from longer periods between appointments, while others stay on a shorter maintenance schedule with their coats rolled regularly to keep them looking neat all year round. Handstripping helps maintain the correct harsh texture, rich colour and natural weatherproof qualities of the coat while preserving the breed’s traditional look.
Penny took everything in her stride and was good as gold throughout her session, and left looking much tidier and feeling much more comfortable afterwards!

Hugo and Cooper, two well-behaved senior Border Terriers came in for their regular Hand Strip today.
Both had a fully blown coat, last done just before Christmas—so very ready to come out. One still has a double coat, while the other has transitioned to more of a single coat over time.
Removing that dead coat by hand really helps reset everything, allowing fresh, healthy coat to grow through and keeping the correct texture and colour where possible.
With the single-coat there’s no longer that dense undercoat to support the harsher outer layer, which can change everything. The coat often becomes softer and lighter, and doesn’t “roll” in the same way—so it’s more about gentle coat management and comfort.
It also means less natural protection from the elements, so maintaining coat health and skin condition becomes the priority over a traditional finish.
Both dogs were beautifully behaved and a pleasure to work with.

Maintaining a proper handstripped coat isn’t just about looks—it keeps the texture, colour, and overall health of the coat exactly as it should be. Jack’s looking sharp and feeling great after his session!
As a City & Guilds qualified group with a Level 3 Distinction in handstripping, I take real pride in providing this traditional grooming technique, and provide it with patience and care.
I welcomed Bear, a gorgeous Chow Chow in for a full groom.
Chow Chows have that iconic thick double coat, so coat care is key to keeping them comfortable and looking their best. I started with a full brush-out to loosen the undercoat and work through any tangles before the bath.
For the bath, I used a professional deshedding shampoo to help lift out all that loose coat and reduce excess shedding. This really helped get the coat clean, healthy, and more manageable. After that, I carried out a thorough blow-dry, making sure the coat was completely dry and fluffed right through.
Once dry, I did a tidy / natural trim to neaten the shape while keeping that classic Chow Chow look. I also completed all the essentials—nails clipped, ears cleaned, hygiene areas tidied, and a gentle face tidy to finish.
Marley a lovely Cockapoo puppy came in for his first groom with me.
Even though he’s been groomed before, I always take a bit of extra time to help them settle in and get comfortable in a new environment. I started with a gentle brush through, followed by a warm hydro-bath using a mild, puppy-friendly shampoo to keep his coat clean and fresh. After that, I carefully blow-dried starting on a low setting, making sure he felt relaxed and at ease throughout.
All the essentials were done too—nails trimmed and ears gently cleaned, and he settled in really well and was such a sweet puppy to groom.

Today’s Emmi-Pet canine teeth cleaning clinic at Charlie’s Dog Training Centre was a lovely, relaxed session. We welcomed six dogs aged 3–9 years, including a mix of new consultation appointments and regular follow-ups. It’s always rewarding to see dogs becoming more comfortable and confident with their dental care at each visit.
Henry, 6 month old Cockerpoo puppy has been in for bath and blow drys since he was tiny, but today he had his first full groom, and if I had a gold star to give he would have got one! ⭐️.

Some dogs get results on their first appointment, others it can take a number of sessions, we get their in the end though, and then create a long term plan to keep the teeth clean and prevent build up again. Today I had Freddy in — a handsome toy poodle who I’ve been grooming since he was just 5 months old. Now a grand age of just 8 months old, he is growing into such a smart, stylish young pup! It’s lovely watching his confidence build with each visit — he’s really maturing into a very handsome little gent.
Boris, Miniature Schnauzer returned today this time for his full groom, and teeth maintenance appointment. And much to our joy the Sheep are back on the riverbank, Boris thoroughly enjoyed the view watching our ponies running up and down, round and round the paddock in sync with the sheep opposite.

Charlie’s Dog Training Centre, Emmi-Pet Teeth Cleaning Clinic by Chloe’s Dog Grooming was the first clinic in a series delivered here, we had super light Polly tunnel to work in, with plenty of space, owners stayed and we treated 5 lovely dogs for their first initial consultations, With gentle, calm handling even the nervous dogs managed just fine.
For each dog their session included an oral check for any signs of discomfort, a full Emmi-Pet ultrasonic deep clean using a new brush head-allocated to each dog, and Orozyme Gel applied to continue working on getting rid of the plaque. Each dog took home their own tube of Orozyme Gel (received as part of their initial consultation) – to put on their dog’s teeth between cleans.
It is recommended that all the dogs come back to next month’s clinic on January 3rd/4th for a maintenance clean to keep working on reducing the plaque.
Chloe is insured, and fully trained to provide Emmi-Pet Teeth Cleaning. Photos are taken as a record for each dog, to keep track of progress, As the clinics develop we will share before and after photos.

Second Groom & Loving the Hydrobath!
Our puppy had their second groom today at Chloe’s Dog Grooming, and they absolutely loved the Hydrobath! The warm, gentle water gave a deep clean and felt more like a relaxing massage than a wash.
It’s perfect for pups getting used to grooming—calming, thorough, and great for their skin and coat. Our little one came out fresh, fluffy, and wagging their tail!
If your dog hasn’t tried our Hydrobath yet, it’s a must for a spa-like experience!
