Select the closest breed example to your dog in size. Alternatively, please use contact us — we’ll be happy to help.

How often should my dog be groomed?

It depends on breed, lifestyle and coat type, but generally every 6 weeks is recommended to keep your dog healthy and well-maintained. For your dog’s coat and overall health grooming is important because of its crucial role in providing your dog with the holistic preventative care it needs. Most dogs benefit from a full groom every 6 weeks, with a bath & brush or tidy in between. Check our pricing grooming guide for details by coat type and frequency.

I have a short hair dog does it still require grooming?

Yes, short coated breeds require loose undercoat removing, and will benefit from deshedding. We use specialty professional deshedding shampoos to give your dog the best experience in our pro dog hydrobath.

Do you offer one-off stand alone nail trims on dogs?

No I do not offer nail trims on their own. I trim nails as part of the dogs groom. You could always book a basic bath & blow dry here, this includes a nail trims.

Can someone else drop off or collect my dog?

Yes, but you must provide us with their full name, contact details, vehicle registration, and business name (if applicable). We will not release your dog without this information. Chloe’s Dog Grooming is not liable for unauthorised collection without prior notice.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, all services are by appointment only. We recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred date and time. We have limited availability due to high demand.

What if my dog is nervous or aggressive?

Please let us know in advance when you book. We have experience working with anxious dogs and will adapt our approach accordingly, this may mean working over a few days, or terminating the groom. We offer a meet the groomer visit that you could book ahead of your dogs groom here. However, we are not insured to groom dogs known to be aggressive, and would have to terminate the groom if this became apparent, and you would not be refunded as this would fall outside our cancellation policy times stated in our terms & conditions.

Do you groom banned breeds?

No we don’t, our insurance does not cover us. These breeds are as follows;

XL Bully Breed

Japanese Tosa

Dogo Argentino

Pit Bull Terrier

Fila Brasileiro

Are you insured?

Yes – we’re fully insured with Pet Business Insurance. This includes public and employer liability insurance. We’re happy to show proof if you’d like to see it.

Of course! You can read our client reviews on Trust Pilot here. You can also see some photos of the dogs I groom in our gallery on our website.

What services do you offer?

We offer Emmi-Pet dog teeth cleaning, and provide full grooms, hand stripping, wash & blow-dry, puppy grooms, all by appointment, book here. We also offer a walk-in service on market days only with our pop up wash, blow-dry & go!

When should my puppy have their first groom?

Once they’re fully vaccinated, we recommend bringing your puppy in between 12–14 weeks of age. Early exposure builds confidence and creates a positive grooming experience for life.

Can my bitch be groomed if she’s in season, or if she’s pregnant.

No.

Why do I have to complete a registration form when I book?

This only needs to be completed once per dog, to ensure we are aware of any conditions, and have an idea about your dog’s behaviour to ensure their grooming experience is as enjoyable as possible. Thereafter please just keep us updated with any changes in your dog, we have a more basic form for regular appointments to record any changes.

Do you carry out a Health Check?

As our duty of care under the Animal Welfare Act, yes each dog has a basic health check upon arrival, and during the groom. Each dog has a record card where we record any findings of new conditions, lumps or bumps, and will notify you after the groom, unless it’s going to impact the groom, then we would contact you before proceeding. Obviously we are unable to diagnose, suggest or advise, but may recommend you contact your veterinarian if we have any concerns.

Can I bring my dog for grooming with ear mites?

No. We wouldn’t groom a dog with ear mites as they would need treatment to kill them first – these are considered potentially, but rare, zoonotic. If a dog has ear mites they would be scratching and shaking their heads as they are very itchy – this could lead to all sorts of change in behaviour. Please book in with us once you have had veterinary treatment.

What if my dog is matted, can they still be groomed?

We have a shave policy, and when a dog is presented to us in a severely matted condition it is our policy to shave the whole coat using electric clippers with a close blade. We groom HUMANELY and to de-matt would cause the dog tremendous stress and discomfort, often leaving a very thin and damaged coat. This may need to be carried out over a few conservative days. And we recommend you setup regular grooming appointments to prevent the need for shaving off the coat again.

What if my dog has matted ears, can they still be groomed?

If the ears are severely matted we may suggest it would be best to take to your veterinarian due to possible Aural Hematomas. If you decide to bring your dog for a groom once this issue has been dealt with, we can then look to blend the body and legs accordingly. And we recommend you setup regular grooming appointments to prevent the need for shaving off the coat again.

What if my dog has fleas, can they still be groomed?

Unfortunately no. Fleas are extremely contagious, please reschedule your appointment, and treat your dog at home with a medicated flea treatment, and seek veterinary advice if the problem persists.

If we discover your dog has fleas during the groom we will bath with a flea treated shampoo, however you will still need to treat your dog with a medicated flea treatment, and we will have to suspend our service whilst we deep clean the grooming area.

What if my dog has lice, can they still be groomed?

Unfortunately no. Lice are extremely contagious, please reschedule your appointment once the infestation has been professionally cleared, and seek treatment from your veterinarian.

If we discover your dog has lice during the groom we will have to suspend our service and deep clean the grooming area.

What if my dog has mange, can they still be groomed?

Unfortunately no. A welfare groom would need to be booked after seeking treatment from your veterinarian.

If my dogs groom is suspended what happens regarding payment?

Please refer to our Terms and Conditions.

Do you groom Brachycephalic breeds all year round?

No, grooming can be very stressful for Brachycephalic breeds in extreme heat, so we avoid grooming these breeds between June-September as it’s kinder for their welfare.

Do I need to bring anything with my dog for their appointment?

Just bring your dog – no additional items are required!

However, if your dog has specific requirements such as allergies or anxious behaviour, we recommend you speak to us prior to your appointment to discuss how we can work with you to create the best experience and provide the best care for your dog!

How long does a grooming appointment take?

Please arrive 10 minutes early when dropping off to allow for a calm handover. Most appointments take 1.5 to 3 hours depending on your dog’s size and coat. Our pricing guide provides a time estimate, however please understand that because we provide individual services catered to your dog each appointment varies, so we will send you a SMS text notification approximately 30 minutes before we finish to be sure.

Can I stay at the salon while you groom my dog?

Unfortunately, you may not stay on site while your dog is being groomed.

This is because your dog will become alert to your presence. This can cause behavioural changes such as added excitement or anxiousness, which may threaten the health and safety or your dog and us, making the provision of our services dangerous.

If you arrive early to pick up your dog and their service has not been completed, please refrain from alerting them to your arrival in any way or form and kindly exit the premises until the service is completed, and wait to be contacted.

Don’t want to pay any additional charges. What can I do?

You can avoid additional charges by arriving punctually to your appointment and pickup time, and by brushing your dog’s coat daily, bringing your dog for grooming regularly (typically every 4 – 6 weeks), and to ensure they are matt-free, and infestation-free.

If I am booking in more than one dog for grooming do I need to purchase day stay or half day stay add ons?

No. If booking more than one dog from the same household (arriving & leaving together), this add-on is not required — care is included from the first to last appointment at no extra charge.

What care will my dog receive if staying longer than their groom?
While with us your dog will: Rest securely in a crate with bedding and water. Have a leg stretch & toilet break. Enjoy a short walk on the lead within our grounds.

What do I need to bring if I have booked the day stay or half day stay add ons?

Please bring your dog’s food (if needed) and book this add-on in advance, as spaces are limited.

Why are there set times for the day stay or half day stay add ons?

I offer a 1-to-1 grooming service so have set arrival and departure times so I can get the dogs settled, and not disturb the dogs once I start grooming.

Half Day AM 7:30am – 12pm, or 12pm – 6:15pm

Full Day AM 7:30am – 6:15pm

What if I’m running late to pick up my dog?

If you are running late, please call us as soon as possible. If you are more than 30 minutes late, you must notify us by phone. A late collection fee of £1 per 10 minutes will apply after the scheduled pick-up time.

Is Emmi Pet Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning suitable for all dogs and cats?

Yes — safe for all breeds and ages. The consultation checks if we can start right away or if a vet check is needed first.

Is Emmi-Pet suitable for nervous pets?

Absolutely. Emmi-Pet is silent, vibration-free, and gentle.

What age can my pet start Emmi Pet Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning?

Suitable for puppies and kittens from 3 months, and adults including senior pets. It can even help soothe teething in young pups.

Will Emmi Pet Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning damage my pet’s teeth?

No — it’s gentle and motionless, cleaning with ultrasound instead of abrasion. It protects enamel and supports gum health.

How do you get dogs and cats used to Emmi Pet Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning?

I use positive reinforcement and take time to help each dog and cat feel relaxed and comfortable before cleaning begins.

Is Emmi Pet Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning vet approved?

Yes — many vets recommend Emmi®-Pet for prevention. However, it doesn’t replace veterinary dental treatment; I’ll always advise a vet visit if needed.

How often should my dog / cat have Emmi Pet Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning?

This depends on plaque level, age, diet, and gum condition. I’ll advise upon completing your consultation. Most dogs do best with sessions every 4–6 weeks.
Smaller breeds may need more frequent cleaning. Cats every 12 weeks.
However, Puppy’s and kitten’s started early from 3-6 months will benefit from life long prevention, and their preventative treatments will more likely be quarterly.

Can I book a one-off Emmi Pet Ultrasonic Teeth clean?

Yes, but regular maintenance gives far better, longer-lasting results.

What if my dog / cat just won’t allow a clean to be carried out?

Part of the initial consultation is to see how your pet responds to treatment and cleaning, so I can formulate a plan and look at desensitisation. However, on the very rare occasion I am unable to work with your pet, 50 per cent of the initial consultation charge will be refunded.

Do you travel with Emmi-Pet teeth cleaning for group clinics?

Yes — if you have a venue and 9+ dogs or cats, I can bring the clinic to you., please get in contact.

What happens in case of an emergency during grooming?

In the event of an emergency or if your dog becomes distressed, we will attempt to contact you or your designated emergency contact immediately. Please ensure you provide accurate emergency contact details. If someone else (e.g., a dog walker or daycare) brings your dog, they should also be authorised to make decisions or collect your dog early if required. In some cases, if we are unable to contact you and a vet visit is required, we may contact your emergency contact to assist with transporting your dog to the vet. We will not be liable for any associated veterinary or transportation costs, and you should ensure your pet is appropriately insured.

Do you offer a referral or affiliate scheme?

Yes, we offer an affiliate programme for dog walkers, doggy daycare providers, and customers who refer new clients to us. Referrers can earn 5% commission on a dog’s first groom or wash & blow-dry. Ongoing commission is available for those transporting dogs. Referrals must be declared at booking; they cannot be backdated. Commission is paid only to registered affiliates.

When is commission paid to affiliates?

Commission is paid monthly, one month in arrears. This allows time to verify completed appointments and account for cancellations or changes.
